With Indian real estate shinning bright, more and more NRI’s are being invited for making monetary investment in the real estate back home. Following are the avenues and schemes announced by Indian government to make the investment process simple and hassle –free for Non –Resident Indians.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted permission to all persons residing outside India holding Indian passports and also people of Indian origin to invest in both residential and commercial properties in India.

• The investment rules has been made flexible to attract the NRI community. Today, no longer, the NRIs have to struggle with municipal rules, income tax and wealth tax issues, succession legislations for all religions, the Hindu joint family Act, land ceilings and others, for investing in the country.

• RBI and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) have also liberalized the rules and regulations for NRIs to make investment in real estate.

• Even the financial institutions in India are facilitating speedy and efficient NRI investment in property through easy finance.

• Initiatives have been taken by builders and real estate dealers to ensure transparency about the projects on offer and fairness in dealings.

• NRIs are also welcome to participate in real estate investments by way of investment in the construction of residential and commercial projects, SEZs and infrastructural facilities.
